This year the 14th Trilateral Governmental Conference on the Protection of the Wadden Sea (TGC) will take place in Wilhelmshaven from 28th November to 1st December 2022 under the German leadership of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection. In the run-up to and parallel to this event - analogous to the 13th TGC in the Netherlands - a conference organized by the German Wadden Seaports under the motto "Cooperation in partnership for the benefit of the Wadden Sea region" is to be held on November 28th. The target groups of the Wadden Seaports Conference are various NGOs, authorities, politicians and port representatives from the Wadden Sea region. As one goal of the conference the findings and results should contribute to the signing of a joint document about “Sustainable shipping and ports initiative for a well-protected Wadden Sea“ within the framework of the 14th TGC.
Another goal is to show the important role of ports and to raise the awareness of their important functions on a regional and national level. However responsibilities and influence possibilities of ports are limited and not all maritime issues can be addressed to port companies in general. The system of maritime actors is complex. Therefore, the Wadden Seaports have made it their mission to share Best-Practices in order to achieve the greatest possible intersection for all partner ports. A panel discussion and two Workshops will provide the opportunity for exchange and communication between Ports and NGOs and will give the opportunity to bring the different points of view and expectations closer together.
Note:
The workshop is free of charge and limited to a maximum of 100 people in attendance.
The registration period runs until November 25th. You can register via the link below.
We look forward to welcoming you in Wilhelmshaven and to your active participation.
