The deadline for having onboard a certified and maintained Inventory of Hazardous Materials - IHM – is approaching fast for EU-flagged vessels and all EU-calling ships regardless off lag of 500GT and above. Once certified, the IHMs need to be maintained on hand of twofold suppliers documents for relevant deliveries, the Material Declaration and Suppliers Declaration of Conformity. Key aspects for effective approaches are identification of relevant orders by working through the jungle of exceptions, and communicating with as well as guidance for the often unprepared suppliers.
