The offshore wind industry is on the rise worldwide – and German companies are increasingly discovering markets in Asia, North and South America. More and more, industry representatives are emphasising the importance of offshore wind as a reliable cornerstone in an energy system that increasingly dependent on renewables. Once again, DNV GL and Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster (REH) join forces to host the 17 Hamburg Offshore Wind Conference. The event will take place under the motto “Ready for takeoff - The global offshore upswing” .
“In global climate reports of recent years, researchers have clearly confirmed that we must make comprehensive changes in how we use energy now if we want to avoid dangerous climate change. And not just how we generate electricity, but also the means of transport we use and more efficient energy uses. In the Paris Climate Agreement, the international community recognised the need for urgent action and set specific targets. Science can help us find ways to reach them in prosperity and with social cohesion,” explains Professor Hermann Held from the Cluster of Excellence in Climate Research CLICCS at the University of Hamburg. He is one of the experts taking part in the political panel discussion on the conference evening on 7 April.
In addition to the political panel discussion featuring high-ranking representatives from society, politics and business the conference will include a dialogue on the end of the compression model, a session on business cases from German companies, presentations on offshore wind and hydrogen, and the award ceremony for the second Offshore Innovation Award. You can find the provisional programme, including the first confirmed speakers, and register for the event HERE.
