The Maritime Cluster Northern Germany e. V. (hereafter MCN e. V.) takes the security of your personal data very seriously. The following statement informs you of how we use your data and guarantee its security.

Collection, Processing and Usage

The subject of this statement is the collection, processing and usage of personal data which is collected when you use our services at nutzen.

The responsible entity in terms of the law on data protection is the Maritime Cluster Northern Germany

If you wish to access and update your personal data, or have any questions regarding data protection on our website, please do not hesitate to contact us via the email address we provide or by post.

Data Collection

1. Usage of the website

Through visits to the website the MCN e. V. receives usage data, which is then saved (e.g. IP addresses, dates, times and pages viewed). This data is analysed by the MCN e. V. in order to provide insights into user behaviour and to create statistics. Please note that this data is used exclusively for statistical analysis. No attempts to attribute the data to the owner of a certain IP address will ever be made. All measures undertaken will comply with the high security standards of the German Teleservices Data Protection Act (TDDSG). Personalised analysis of the data will never take place under any circumstances.

2. Contacting us via the contact form; participation in surveys

Personal information from the contact form is saved by us in electronic media in order to allow us to contact you. If interest is expressed in a certain service – or in the services of the MCN e. V. in general – within the contact form or by e-mail, we will use this personal data to advise you and possibly send you information about such services.

Anonymous data (e.g. data from opinion polls) is saved for the purposes of statistical analysis. Personalised analysis of the data will not take place under any circumstances.

3. Usage of personalised online services

When you use personalised services on the MCN e. V. website, we request you to provide certain information about yourself. In terms of such information, only the information which we require for the delivery of such services or for the fulfilment of a contract will be deemed as mandatory. Data regarding your usage of individual services (usage data) will be used by us or our technical partners – who are also bound by data protection law – for the technical provision, and in some cases, for the billing of these services. As such, usage data may be collated from various services for the purposes of billing.

Furthermore, we may, under certain circumstances, anonymously analyse usage profiles for market research purposes and for the improvement of our own services. This, however, will only happen if you have not asserted your statutory right to preclude such usage of your data.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a website analytics service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google uses cookies. As a general rule, the information collected by the cookie about usage of the website by the user is sent to, and stored by, a Google server in the United States.

Google uses this information on our behalf to evaluate usage of our website by users in order to compile reports about activities regarding our online services, and provides us with other services relating to website activity and internet usage. In this context, pseudonymous usage profiles of users may be compiled from the processed data.

We only use Google Analytics in conjunction with activated IP anonymization. This means that Google will truncate the IP address of users for Member States of the European Union as well as for signatories to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a server in the United States and abbreviated there. Google will not merge the user’s IP address given by the browser with any other Google data.

Users can prevent the installation of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on their browser software. Furthermore, users can also prevent Google’s collection and use of data on their use of online services and the dissemination of such data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available from the following link:

You will find more information on the use of data for advertising purposes by Google, and possibilities of blocking and objecting to the same on Google websites: ”How Google uses data when you use our partners’ sites or apps“, “Use of data for advertising purposes“, ”Managing information which Google uses to show you advertising” and ”Control which advertising Google shows you”.

Transfer of data to third parties

The MCN e. V. will pass on your data to third parties solely in the following circumstances:

  • Where the transfer of data is required for the fulfilment or billing of services, especially if through the said services you make use of goods or services from an independent partner company; or
  • Where a sub-contractor requires this information for the fulfilment of the services (such sub-contractors are – unless you have been explicitly informed to the contrary – only permitted to use such information as is essential for the fulfilment of the service);
  • Where law enforcement authorities or courts demand this data for the purpose of prosecution under applicable law.

Right of withdrawal

If you instruct the MCN e. V. not to use your personal data for further communications and/or to delete it, we shall act in accordance with your instructions. Data which is essential for the completion of an order or other commercial purposes is not subject to cancellation or deletion. Please understand that a personalised service can no longer be provided once you have asserted your right of withdrawal as such a service depends on the use of customer data.
